Milan Malpensa is the closest and most convenient airport for Baveno, approximately 45 kilometres away. The drive usually takes 45 to 50 minutes.
It is a convenient starting point for visitors arriving from Italy or abroad who want to reach Lake Maggiore with ease.
From the airport, you can choose from several travel options.
A car gives you the greatest freedom to explore.
From the airport, follow signs for the A8 motorway towards Varese/Gravellona Toce, then continue on the A26 towards Gravellona Toce. Take the Baveno-Stresa exit and follow the scenic road by the lake into the town centre.
If you are travelling from Milan or central or southern Italy, take the A8 towards the lakes, then the A26 towards Gravellona Toce and exit at Baveno-Stresa.
From northern Europe and Switzerland, the SS33 del Sempione leads towards Lake Maggiore and the centre of Baveno.
The train is a convenient option if you prefer to travel without a car.
From the airport, take the Malpensa Express to Busto Arsizio or Gallarate, then a regional train on the Milan–Domodossola line to Baveno or nearby Stresa.
Alternatively, travel to Milano Centrale and continue towards the lake. Depending on the connections, the journey generally takes between one and a half and two hours.
From Baveno station, the historic centre and Cosy Baveno are just a short walk through the village streets.
